Smarp was elected the winner of the prestigious Arctic15start-up conference pitching competition. Past winners of the competition include some of the most successful start-ups from the region such as Kiosked, Holvi, Transfluent, Infogr.am, Ovelin, and Pipedrive.
Over 300 start-ups applied this year for the competition from the Nordics and the Baltics. 15 were selected to pitch at the conference by a public voting with the top 3 advancing to the finals. As part of the main prize, Smarp gets a chance to pitch in the international Wayra pitching finals in the UK. This gives Smarp a good opportunity to boost its brand and growth internationally.
Smarp COO Mikael Lauharanta pitched and represented Smarp at the conference: “Arctic15 was a wonderful experience in all regards. It was a great chance to meet top-notch VCs from around the world, chat with interesting start-ups and their enthusiastic founders, listen to some of the world’s leading thinkers, and of course it’s always nice to win. The other finalists (Ambronite, 4Chords by Musopia, and SOS-ICE) had really interesting ideas and products as well and I think they will do well in the future.”
For those who couldn’t attend the event and the pitch, Smarp is the creator of the SmarpShare employee advocacy platform. During the past year, Smarp has quickly expanded internationally and more than tripled its client base.
Smarp CEO Roope Heinilä is very pleased with the progress. “It is great to see our team’s great work recognized this way. Our growth rate is increasing each week as we expand beyond Europe. We have recently got our first clients and distribution partners from the UAE and Asia proving the need for our service globally. We plan on speeding up our expansion even further with new hires in key markets.”
